New York, N.Y., February 28, 2019 – Campbell Soup, one of the first industrial operators to dramatically cut the amount of ammonia it uses in refrigeration, is now an early adopter of carbon dioxide (CO2) as a refrigerant, as explained in the February issue of Accelerate America, published online this week.
Published 10 times annually by shecco, the worldwide expert in natural refrigerant news, Accelerate America is the first news magazine written for and about the most progressive business leaders working with climate-friendly natural refrigerants in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Accelerate America is viewable online at no charge at www.acceleratena.com. In addition, print copies are distributed at major North American trade shows serving the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and refrigeration industries, and mailed to key end users in food retail, foodservice, cold storage, food processing and other sectors.
Campbell Soup over the past year has added two new refrigeration flavors – CO2 cascade (in combination with ammonia and a glycol solution) at three Pepperidge Farm production plants, and CO2-only transcritical at its headquarters in Camden, N.J. In doing so, Campbell has joined a small but growing group of industrial end users who are employing CO2 systems to improve safety and avoid regulations in what has for decades been an ammonia-centric industry.
The February 2019 issue (volume 5, No. 42) also reports on: An H-E-B store that has had no R290 leaks since 2013; the Environmental Investigation Agency urging U.S. States to address refrigerant emissions; and highlights from the NAFEM foodservice equipment show.
Also featured: Hydrocarbon charge limit may stop at 300 g in U.S.; a transcritical CO2 system operates efficiently in the hot climate of Jordan; helping the environment with a climate-friendly blowing agent for insulation foams; and preventing false alarms in ammonia detection.
