New York, N.Y., January 31, 2018 – Can food stores in North America replace aging traditional display cases with display cases using small amounts of propane refrigerant? Can propane cases be used throughout a store? The January issue of Accelerate America, published online this week, addresses these questions.
Published 10 times annually by shecco, the worldwide expert in natural refrigerant news, Accelerate America is the first news magazine written for and about the most progressive business leaders working with climate-friendly natural refrigerants in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Accelerate America is viewable online at no charge at http://www.acceleratena.com. In addition, print copies are distributed at major North American trade shows serving the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and refrigeration industries, and mailed to key end users in food retail, foodservice, cold storage, food processing and other sectors.
North American food retailers like Target, ALDI US and Whole Foods Market have been adding self-contained display cases with up to 5.3 oz of propane refrigerant as spot merchandisers in stores that otherwise use centralized refrigeration systems. But Hannaford Supermarkets and other chains are exploring the use of propane cases as replacements for aging equipment in existing stores, and as the sole refrigeration option in new stores.
The January 2019 issue (volume 5, No. 41) also reports on: 2019 expectations for natural refrigerants; highlights from the AHR Expo in Atlanta; and what’s next for hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) regulations in California.
Also featured: Incentives for CO2 heat pump water heaters in British Columbia; How the U.S., Canada and Mexico differ regarding HFC regulations; an upcoming test in Vermont of a CO2 condensing unit for stores, breweries and dairies; and how a bakery in Wisconsin used CO2 transcritical refrigeration.
