ACCELERATE AMERICA EXPLAINS WHY NATURAL REFRIGERANTS ARE THE BEST ALTERNATIVE FOR ICE RINK SYSTEMS

December 17, 2018Featured, NewsAdmin Shecco

New York, N.Y., December 17, 2018 – In an in-depth investigation of ice rink refrigeration systems, the November-December issue of Accelerate America, published online this week, explains why industry stakeholders believe the natural refrigerants ammonia and carbon dioxide are better than new synthetic blends R449A and R513A for ice rinks, both operationally and environmentally.

Published 10 times annually by shecco, the worldwide expert in natural refrigerant news, Accelerate America is the first news magazine written for and about the most progressive business leaders working with climate-friendly natural refrigerants in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Accelerate America is viewable online at no charge at http://www.acceleratena.com. In addition, print copies are distributed at major North American trade shows serving the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and refrigeration industries, and mailed to key end users in food retail, foodservice, cold storage, food processing and other sectors.

In May, the National Hockey League announced a partnership with Chemours to promote R449A and R513A as “green” refrigerants for North American ice rinks, though so far no NHL team is using them. A more sustainable choice would be ammonia, carbon dioxide, or a combination of the two, according to a number of industry stakeholders. The natural refrigerants also save rink owners energy and maintenance costs.

The November-December 2018 issue (volume 5, No. 40) also reports on: New propane-based supermarket display cases from Hussmann; two approaches to low-charge ammonia (packaged and central) for industrial refrigeration; and new natural refrigerant technology at the Chillventa trade show in Germany.

Also featured: New governors of Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan join the U.S. Climate Alliance; U.S. states oppose EPA’s proposal on HFC leaks; new global hydrocarbon charge limit nears final vote; and food retailers explain how to cut refrigerant leaks.
