WASHINGTON WAREHOUSE IS ONE OF THE FIRST IN U.S. TO USE CLIMATE-FRIENDLY CO2 REFRIGERATION SYSTEM, ACCELERATE AMERICA REPORTS

October 19, 2018Featured, NewsEda Isaksson

New York, N.Y., October 18, 2018 – Henningsen Cold Storage, at its Grandview, Wash.-based cold-storage warehouse, has installed one of the first industrial refrigeration systems in the U.S. that uses only carbon dioxide (CO2), a climate-friendly refrigerant, reports the October 2018 issue of Accelerate America, published online this week.

Published 10 times annually by shecco, the worldwide expert in natural refrigerant news, Accelerate America is the first news magazine written for and about the most progressive business leaders working with climate-friendly natural refrigerants in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Accelerate America is viewable online at no charge at www.acceleratena.com. In addition, print copies are distributed at major North American trade shows serving the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and refrigeration industries, and mailed to key end users in food retail, foodservice, cold storage, food processing and other sectors.

Hillsboro, Ore.-based Henningsen installed its first transcritical CO2 refrigeration in June, 2018, at its new Grandview cold-storage plant, and followed up in September with a second such system at an existing warehouse in Scranton, Pa. These systems represent a bold departure from Henningsen’s traditional ammonia systems, and will be evaluated for performance and reliability over the next year.

The October 2018 issue (volume 4, No. 39) also reports on: Target and Weis Market’s approach to refrigeration selection; Connecticut, New York and Maryland join California in regulating HFCs; and the evolution of CO2 as a refrigerant for car air-conditioning.

Also featured: EPA’s proposal to end leak-repair rules for HFCs; CO2 refrigeration news at the Food Marketing Institute’s Energy & Store Development Conference; Lidl’s EPA GreenChill award for self-contained propane cases; and how the HVAC&R industry can help meet climate deadlines set by the new IPCC report.
