Bangkok, Thailand, 6 September 2017:
ATMOsphere Asia, held for the first time in Bangkok, Thailand, is taking place today with the record participation of nearly 170+ delegates from countries around Southeast Asia, including host Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as China, Japan and overseas.
Nearly a third of attendees at the exquisite five-star Sofitel Sukhumvit hotel represent end-user organisations from sectors ranging from retail to industrial manufacturing or hospitality. This is the highest proportion of end users of all ATMOsphere events organised by shecco in 2017.
“We are very impressed with the attendance and end-user engagement that ATMOSphere Asia is attracting. We see this as a clear sign of the interest in natural refrigerants in Southeast Asia, and the huge potential that this region holds” says Alvaro de Oña, chief operating officer at shecco.
ATMOsphere Asia comes two months after the 39th Meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG39) of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, which also took place in Bangkok.
One of the key underlying themes of the conference is the impact of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on the market for natural refrigerants in the region.
Policy stakeholders including Anshu Kumar from the United Nations Development Programme and Bitul Zulhasni from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia. They will discuss how global funding schemes are already being implemented on the ground, and the challenges that lie ahead to implement the Kigali Amendment.
End users take centre stage
End users at ATMOsphere Asia represent some of the largest industrial conglomerates in the region including Comgrit Sorchom from Thai Union Group and Thanarak Kosalwitr from Charoen Pokphand Group.
Olaf Schulze from Metro AG and David Schalenbourg from Ahold Delhaize will share their experience from the retail sector in Europe. Moreover, representatives from several hotel chains, including Accor, Sofitel and Marriot, are among the audience to learn more about solutions for large buildings.
The event will also cover market trends and technology case studies from the leading manufacturers active in the region.
