Ningbo, April 17, 2017 – Jan Dusek, managing director (shecco Japan) & business development manager (APAC), presented at two key Chinese HVAC&R industry events in China this month.
“What’s happening now in China will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the global HVAC&R market in the coming years, so it is fascinating to see that the industry as a whole is moving in the right direction,” Dusek said.
On 10-12 April, Dusek presented at the International Design, Production, and Installation of R290 in Air-conditioning Industry Workshop, in Ningbo, China.
The event, co-hosted by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA), gathered representatives from the largest air-conditioning system manufacturers active in China including Midea, Haier and Gree as well as component manufacturers such as GMCC.
A total of 160 participants attended, including representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, UAE and Vietnam.
“I was happy to present at the workshop to help provide information on important global trends and support the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection’s intention to convert the production of room air-conditioning into R290,” Dusek said.
shecco provided several examples of applications where hydrocarbons were successfully introduced across several sectors, from light commercial to industrial refrigeration as well as air-conditioning from countries around the world.
Linked to the workshop was a trip to a manufacturing facility where over 1,000 units of R290 RAC units had been installed.
Following the workshop in Ningbo, China was the China Refrigeration 2017 Ozone2Climate Industry Roundtable conference, held in Shanghai, on 13 April. Dusek presented on global natural refrigerant market trends amid discussions of Stage II of China’s HCFC Phase-out Management Plan.
“It is good to see that the technologies that have been developing in Europe, the US and Japan are now increasingly available and on display at China Refrigeration 2017,” he said.
Dusek commented on the increasing efficiency of transcritical CO2 in warm ambient temperatures as well as the developing CO2 market in China led by international retailers.
“We know that there are currently 32 subcritical CO2 cascade systems installed throughout China. Mostly this has been led by Metro China, Tesco and other foreign retailers.”
“However, we also know that there are local retailers who are currently looking into CO2 transcritical as well. In addition, there are now on-going discussions about potential subsidies for domestic retailers to introduce the first couple transcritical CO2 stores.”
“So the market is opening up to natural refrigerants. It will be exiting to see how this develops,” he said.
Dusek revealed shecco’s plans to hold the first ever ATMOsphere China event, in Beijing in 2018.
“I’m very pleased to announce that shecco will be bringing the ATMOsphere conference to China next year in April. We are very much looking forward to working with the international and domestic industry stakeholders along with the government and key local associations to have this discussion about how we can make the transition from chemical-based refrigerants to natural refrigerants.”
