Sheila McClennon, from BBC Radio 4, invited shecco’s Market Research Analyst Pierre Wattré to talk about electric vehicles, and provide insights on the reasons why electromobility is becoming more and more popular in some countries and struggling to gain consumer interest in others.
Despite a national plan for infrastructure, in the UK people have started to ask why the charging stations are not used, and why these have not been enough to drive the long-awaited electric vehicle uptake. In places such as Norway or California on the other hand, EVs already represent a significant part of the automotive market. Pierre Wattré suggests that non-financial incentives, such as parking spaces for EVs for example, as well as car design, play important roles in incentivising the uptake of EVs.
