shecco is proud to announce the launch of the official website of the “ELEVTRA – Electric Vehicle Training” project supported by the European Lifelong Learning Programme. The goal of ELEVTRA is to develop a comprehensive, international and standardized training programme on the maintenance and repair of electric vehicles and charging stations.
Electric vehicles are an attractive solution towards low-emission vehicles enabling the transport sector to significantly reduce emissions. The European and global EV market is expected to grow dynamically over the coming years. In 2012 alone fourteen new EV car types are planned to be launched on the market by major car manufacturing companies. However the market penetration will depend also on the acceptance of electric mobility among customers, where the availability of high quality maintenance services plays a significant role. EV technologies require new skills of maintenance professionals and ELEVTRA aims to provide a Europe-wide answer to this urgent market need from both the industry and the customer side.
The 3 years long project started in October 2011, joining 6 partners form 5 European countries to work together on the European training for the next generation of cars. shecco is contributing to the project by leading the communication and dissemination tasks of the project based on its experience in professional marketing and communication in the field of EVs.
ELEVTRA website
After having developed the project corporate design, the first milestone of the project delivered by shecco is the launch of the ELEVTRA website, which provides a platform of information and knowledge exchange for project partners and all stakeholders beyond the consortium that are engaged in the EV sector. The website informs about the project activities and promotes the knowledge and deliverables created within the project framework. It provides a continuously upgraded directory about all types of stakeholders in the EV sector from industry, academia and education as well as the public and the NGO sector.
Next project steps
Recently the ELEVTRA partners started to work on the definition of the new professional profile, which will be ready by the end of this year. After this, the project will develop the training materials and an e-learning platform with e-courses and hands-on exercises to validate the quality of the vocational education and training (VET) didactic material. In the 3rd year of the project an EV Forum will be opened for every interested stakeholder, where registered members can discuss the pilot training developed previously.
