ATMOsphere Europe 2012: Natural Refrigerants – Solutions for Europe

April 11, 2012NewsAdmin Shecco

shecco is proud to announce the 4th edition of ATMOsphere Europe. The interactive workshop and conference will be held in Brussels on 5-7 November 2012 bringing together key people from European policy with the suppliers and end users in the HVAC&R industry to talk about natural refrigerants as a viable solution to f-gases across Europe.

Main theme: ATMOsphere Europe 2012: Natural Refrigerants – Solutions for Europe

Given the main theme, the emphasis will be this year on case studies, experiences, and discussions – meaning solutions – about how the natural refrigerants CO2, ammonia, hydrocarbons, water and air can be viable alternatives to f-gases across Europe.

A main topic of this year’s ATMOsphere Europe will therefore be the new F-Gas regulation: the European Commission intends to present a legislative proposal revising the current EU F-Gas Regulation in September/October 2012. ATMOsphere Europe 2012 is thus perfectly timed to enable industry to provide feedback to the European Commission and European Parliament on the legislation. This proposal will have a significant influence on the future of natural refrigerants in Europe.

Programme: Case studies, policy, end users and market trends

The programme in general will be a balanced mix of policy issues with high-level speakers from the European Parliament, the European Commission and national representatives. As well as two end user sessions with leading consumer brands, supermarkets, breweries etc. sharing their experience and future plans. In addition, two sessions will be dedicated to technology case studies with innovative projects using one or multiple natural refrigerants.

Last but not least a market trends session presenting the latest developments and forecast for the market penetration of ammonia and other natural refrigerants is planned. The whole programme will be rounded up by interactive workshops, panel discussions and networking time to ensure the best outcome for all participants.

As a novelty this year ATMOsphere Europe will have specialised parallel sessions on Tuesday afternoon to cover new and related topics including: Funding opportunities, NGOs, business networking, speed dating and more.

See the preliminary programme here.

More time, more solutions for Europe

With so many interesting things to discuss and present, in addition to the two day “normal” workshop days, we are also planning to have a half a day before, dedicated to the new F-Gas regulation scheduled to be published right before ATMOsphere Europe as well as the 10-point action plan. These small group discussions will allow for more focused and fruitful discussions. One of the highlights of the first day will be a dinner at the European Parliament.

Registration and Call for Case Studies

Registration for ATMOsphere Europe 2012 will open in early May. A call for case studies looking for innovative and real life examples of ammonia solutions for Europe will be issued in early May as well.

ATMOsphere events around the world

shecco will be organising ATMOsphere events around the globe to support the uptake of natural refrigerants in different markets. Beside the ATMOsphere Europe event every year in autumn, ATMOsphere America in Washington DC is taking place for the first time on 12-13 June 2012. Beginning of 2013 ATMOsphere Asia will focus on Natural Refrigerants in the quickly evolving Asian markets.
