shecco has become a supporter of the international campaign BeyondHFCs calling for a global phase out of hydrofluorocarbons in refrigeration, cooling and air conditioning systems.
The campaign brings together well-known proponents of natural refrigerants to spread out the message about the contribution of synthetic refrigerants to global warming. The campaign also calls for a rapid uptake of natural refrigerants as an effective and sustainable replacement.
BeyondHFCs international campaign for a global HFC phase out
Calculations suggest that HFCs present a significant threat to the world’s efforts to stabilise climate emissions. Under a business as usual scenario HFCs could equal 45% of CO2 emissions in 2050.
Today, shecco becomes a supporter of BeyondHFCs. The campaign calls for a rapid HFC phase out worldwide because of the climate emergency to reduce global warming. F Gases are major contributors to climate change for the past 30 years due to their potent greenhouse effect.
BeyondHFCs is an advocate of a strong climate agreement to control the production and consumption of F Gases worldwide and spreads the message ahead of the discussions in Copenhagen this December.
“The international campaign BeyondHFCs represents what lies at the heart of our efforts: alert policy makers and end users about the climate crisis we are facing as a result of high global warming cooling and heating gases and the window of opportunity that natural refrigerants represent in addressing this problem” says Christianna Papazahariou, Head of Government affairs with shecco.
BeyondHFCs – Promotion of natural refrigerants
As an active player and a source of expertise in the field of natural refrigerants, BeyondHFCs dedicates its efforts to the promotion of climate friendly refrigeration and cooling alternatives based on CO2, ammonia and hydrocarbons.
In a time when rising greenhouse gas concentrations are putting the society and human health at peril, low-impact solutions are urgently needed. Natural refrigerants are a part of this solution.
